Holdalls and bags left on the floor in classrooms and corridors can be a health and safety hazard..... as well as being targets for opportunist theft. Carrying bags or rucksacks stuffed with books and sports kit around the school may lead to back pain for some pupils. Providing storage lockers can solve these problems, encourage personal responsibility and make your school or college a tidier and safer place.

Before ordering it's worth giving some thought to the type of locker required ........
It may be tempting to go for the cheapest locker but this will usually mean the smallest size. Small lockers will almost certainly be inadequate for the amount of bags, books, sports kit etc that many students will want to keep safe. If the lockers aren't big enough your students may end up storing half their gear in lockers and carrying the rest with them round the school.... not ideal. However, a glance at the information below will show that for a relatively modest additional cost you can obtain a significant increase in locker size.
Know your students........
Like many other items of furniture used in schools and colleges lockers are prone to vandalism. It's the door which is likely to bear the brunt of this. Below we suggest three ways of dealing with this .... however if you're in a school where there is little or no vandalism then our standard lockers should be perfectly adequate for your needs.

a. Heavy duty lockers
These are manufactured from a much heavier gauge steel (both for the carcass and doors) than is used for our standard lockers, together with a heavy duty camlock for additional security.

Laminate door lockers
These lockers are manufactured using a standard metal carcass but with a solid laminate door which is much more resistant to dents and scratches than a normal locker door. You can choose from beech, oak, pastel green and ice blue doors / end panels.
c. Timber door lockers
These lockers combine a strong powder coated steel body with attractive timber effect (MDF) doors. These lockers can be supplied with timber effect doors or both doors and sides in timber effect (MDF) panels. Available in light oak and medium oak in plain or panelled options.

d. Lockers with sloping tops
The tops of flat top lockers can end up becoming a dumping ground for all sorts of books, papers and "junk." Not only is this unsightly but it will attract dust and dirt. The simple solution is to specify your lockers with a sloping top (small extra charge applies).
STANDARD LOCKERS and LOCKER NESTS
Unless stated otherwise, all our lockers are 1800 mm high with a choice of 300, 380 and 450 mm width and 300, 380 and 450 mm depth (please see our comment above ref locker sizes). A nest is where two or three lockers are manufactured together and delivered as a single unit. As well as providing cost savings they are also somewhat easier to install than the equivalent number of single lockers.
Lockers are available with one, two, three, four or six compartments. You can choose between a cam lock (2,000 differs) or hasp and staple fitting which requires a padlock (available separately or can be purchased locally). Master keys are available for lockers fitted with a camlock.
